Communications Lead

Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic individual to join our team as Communications Lead. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this role is pivotal in shaping and elevating the organisation’s brand as a trusted authority on family
development. The Communications Manager will oversee branding, marketing, public relations, and communications strategies to drive increased brand awareness, recognition, and meaningful engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Brand Development and Management
• Shape and communicate our vision and mission, aligning all company communications around the brand’s direction, choices and tactics
• Monitor and analyse brand positioning and constituent insights
• Lead and oversee marketing creative development to ensure alignment to business strategy, brand and tone, and to engage constituents and drive them to action
• Develop and monitor effective benchmarks to measure performance of all marketing campaigns, and assess ROIs and KPIs
2. Marketing & Communications
• Develop and oversee the implementation of cost-effective communication and digital media marketing strategies to
o enhance the organisation’s brand identity, credibility, and presence on the website and across multiple channels (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, Email, Youtube, etc.)
o effectively publicise and increase engagement in the organisation’s programmes, resources, and services
• Oversee the development, management and integration of all marketing channels (website, social media, SEO, content marketing, email, print) to improve constituent experience and increase growth and engagement
• Identify, evaluate, and adopt new opportunities, technologies, best practices, trends, channels and platforms to expand the organization’s presence in the traditional, digital and social media spaces
• Strategise campaigns (on-site & digital) based on relevant and up-to-date research on current family needs, issues, news and trends
• Develop and manage the budget plan
3. Marketing Content Development & Management
• Oversee the creation, publishing and maintenance of relevant, original, high-quality and up-to-date marketing content for all channels. These should reflect current family needs, issues, news and trends.
• Oversee the implementation of
a. a content & campaign editorial calendar
b. a regular social media content publishing schedule
• Manage and oversee all social media advertising campaigns
• Oversee maintenance of an up-to-date repository of credible data, information, and knowledge
4. Public & External Relations
• Build strategic partnerships with media outlets, influencers, like-minded organisations and government agencies to increase brand visibility and credibility
• Develop a strategic and targeted approach to engage in meaningful and relevant dialogue on core Focus topics across multiple channels to grow brand visibility and credibility
• Support Focus on the Family brand and spokespersons in developing a nationwide public presence as an authority on family development
• Be on top of news and social trends, leveraging opportunities to comment on social issues and public policies and champion FOFM’s mission and values
5. Managerial Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and direction to direct reports and volunteers
• Coach, guide and monitor progress to equip and enable direct reports to achieve their goals
Job Requirement
• Degree in Communications, Marketing or Journalism, or any relevant field.
• At least 5 years’ working experience in communications, marketing, and/or editorial role with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful communication strategies
• Strong copywriting, editing, proofreading and content creation skills
• Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in traditional, digital and social media
• Strong working knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and any other relevant technologies
• Fluent in verbal and written English
• Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and/or Chinese is an added advantage
