International Students’ Ministry Malaysia Partners Team Leader

• The Partners Team Leader will co-ordinate and take a lead in building relationships with churches/partners.
• This includes mobilising workers, engaging and envisioning church and para-church leaders, training workers who are seeking to engage in ISM ministry, and connecting/partnering with other like-minded groups reaching out to international students.
• Act as a bridge between churches/partners and ISM Malaysia.
• As part of the role, the Partners Team Leader will engage in some ISM ministry themselves, such as meeting, befriending, evangelising and discipling international students.
• The position will be part-time or full-time and for at least two years, with potential for renewal.

Christian Commitment
• To be committed to actively working and living in accordance with ISM Malaysia’s evangelical Christian beliefs.
• To agree to and sign the doctrinal statement of ISM Malaysia (see attached).
• To continue to grow spiritually and model Christlikeness in all aspects of life.

Requirements:
• A love for international students and a desire for them to know Jesus.
• Some experience in international student ministry.
• Proven personal, pastoral, communication and leadership skills.
• An ability to work cross-culturally within many diverse cultures with good relational skills.
• Hardworking, self-starter who is happy to take initiative and be a vision-caster.
• Some experience in public speaking, leadership experience in churches/partners.
• Proven commitment to ISM Malaysia’s beliefs.
• Appropriate theological training.
• Strong English language skills.
• A willingness to work wholeheartedly with team members and others.
• Actively involved in ISM prayer events.

Part-time/ Full-time

The role needs to be adequately financed, either through personal supporters/churches, or through a salary from ISM, or a mix of both. To be discussed on an individual basis.

ISM Malaysia was formed in 2019 with two aims:
1. Ministering among international students in Malaysia, helping them become life-long followers of Jesus Christ (through friendship, evangelism and discipleship) and active witnesses for Christ as they return to their home countries.
2. To envision and equip local churches, Christian students and para-church groups to be involved in international student ministry across Malaysia, as the Lord leads.

Malaysia may have upwards of 200,000 international students by 2025. Many come from ‘creative access’ countries and unreached people groups. There are tremendous opportunities to reach, disciple, and send out students with the gospel. We desire that every international student in Malaysia is reached with the Gospel, equipped for ministry, and sent back for mission in their home countries.
